Bicycle Culture Center / Grips A

Bicycles, first produced some 190 years ago, have developed to become the most basic form of conveyance of everyday life. On display in Bicycle Plaza at the Bicycle Culture Center are bicycles that give a visual picture of the history of the bicycle. (For more information, see the January 2009 issue of the PR magazine pla-topia.) http://cycle-info.bpaj.or.jp/bcc-info/bcc_hiroba.html

Grips are placed over the ends of the handlebar to facilitate bicycle handle manipulation. Many materials and forms have been devised for grips in order to make bicycle handles easy to manipulate.

Wooden grips on bicycles produced before World War II. They were screwed on to pipe handlebars.
