2. Pre-drying

The moisture absorption of LAPEROS® LCP is very small. For example, the equilibrium moisture content of A polymer is approximately 0.03% (300 ppm) at 23°C and 50% RH. Though a moisture-proof package is used, the material is of a polyester type polymer, so it is advised to pre-dry before molding. The drying conditions are:

Temperature : 140 - 160°C

Time : More than 4 hours (max. 24 hours)

Additionally, it is recommended to use a dehumidification dryer.

For drying, shelf-type air dryers and hopper dryers are also available. When using either one, hot air temperature and volume must be controlled for uniform drying under the conditions described above.

Especially when using hopper dryers, avoid short pass and maintain pellet temperature as described above, not set temperature.

It is also advised to use a hopper dryer during molding in order to avoid reabsorption of moisture.
