8. Mold Design

8.3 Draft

Since mold shrinkage of DURACON® POM is relatively great, a smaller draft can be used in comparison with amorphous resins. However, in view of mold release, it is desirable to apply as large a draft as possible within the allowable range:

  • At least 1/4° to 1/2° is recommended. If possible, approximately 1° is preferable.

The knockout method, the position and number of knockout must be taken into full consideration for improving mold release.
