Calculators 2
In 1971, the palm-sized LE-120A utilizing an LSI (large-scale integrated circuit) debuted from Busicom. The microprocessor it used was the Intel 4004 developed by the then venture company Intel. Rapid progress was made in increasingly compact and lightweight calculators through the use of such LSIs and in 1983, the card calculator released by Casio became a hit product. Plastics were fully utilized in calculators, from the silicon devices used in microprocessors, to the housings and keyboards, in order to realize more compact products of lighter weight, as well as diverse designs and colors.
