Simultaneous Molding of Plastics

Simultaneous Molding of Plastics (1990-)

The SX Chair that debuted in 1996 adopted a variable hardness cushion in both the back and seat molded simultaneously in one-piece from urethane of varying hardness.
The traditional slab molding method formerly employed whereby urethane foam blocks were cut and inserted was switched to one whereby the foam was soft in areas where pressure is not required and it was firm in areas where support is required. This realized ideal sitting comfort. A specialist urethane molding manufacturer handled such cushion parts and this simultaneous molding is Okamura's own proprietary technology.
