Chair Museum / Advancing Plastics

The Okamura Museum was established in 2009. Visitors can learn about the technical and technological history of chair making and also the role of plastics in achieving more comfortable chairs based on ergonomics. Advancing Plastics

Advancing Plastics (1980-1990)

The Model 28 that debuted in 1986 featured legs components also converted to plastic. The plastic itself realized the strength required of the chair.
Glass fiber reinforced polyester resin was used in the armrests, which adopted a unique cantilever form, and the materials vary greatly.
ABS resin was used for the shells of the back and seat, which were all injection molded, and a bold form was realized that could not be possible using metal.
