DURACON(R) POM
Characteristics of POM materials for extrusion molding
DURACON® POM, which is an acetal copolymer resin, has the characteristics shown below. It has broad use for extrusion applications and various grades are prepared according to diversified applications.
- Being highly crystalline and having a high crystallization rate, polyacetal had been regarded as making it difficult to undergo melted extrusion and stretching. Accordingly, we developed a material superior in melted extrusion and stretching processability by applying our proprietary modification techniques.
- High-viscosity grades are available for solidified extrusion, melted extrusion and blow molding.
- Blow molding grades possess extensively improved drawdown properties. In addition, pinch-off strength can be obtained.
- Possessing superior fuel resistance, DURACON has also been used in floats in the gas tanks of cars for many years.
- With regard to fiber grades, processing by general equipment is possible with their improved spinning and stretching properties. They are also adopted into nonwoven fabrics.
- Possessing superior cutting properties as workpieces, DURACON can cope with the manufacturing of thick-wall products or products in small lots which are impossible by injection molding.
