Yokohama Waterworks Commemoration Hall / Types of water meter3
Yokohama was the first city in Japan in which a modern waterworks system was constructed. The Yokohama Waterworks Commemoration Hall and Waterworks Technology Commemoration Hall displays materials and videos that present how Yokohama's waterworks system was developed. In Japan, the shift to water rates based on actual water consumption was completed in 1927.
In the early days, the only water meters used in Japan were imported from Germany and other overseas countries.
Then, in around 1912, the production of water meters began in Japan.
In times of scarcity after World War II, manufacturers also began researching water meters with enclosures made of phenol resin.
