Bandai Museum / 1960~1970

The Advanced Technology Exhibition Hall @ TEPIA was established by Association for Technological Excellence Promoting Innovative Advances (TEPIA) in 1989. It is a venue in which visitors can learn about a variety of advanced technologies that are the pride of Japan. They can also learn about the role plastics play in these technologies. (For more information, see the February 2011 issue of the PR magazine pla-topia.) http://tepia.jp/exhibition/index.html

1960-1970

1960~1970

This was the decade that saw the first Shinkansen trains (bullet trains) put into operation, the first space flights, and color TV. The world of toys experienced fads for toy guns and imported miniature cars followed by the appearance of character toys. Mighty Atom was the first character toy from Bandai, and Takara came out with the LICCA doll. Soft vinyl dolls (popularly called "sofubi") of monsters and other characters appearing in special effects TV programs also became a fad.
