Advanced Technology Exhibition Hall@TEPIA / SEISMIC ISOLATION AIR
The Advanced Technology Exhibition Hall @ TEPIA was established by Association for Technological Excellence Promoting Innovative Advances (TEPIA) in 1989. It is a venue in which visitors can learn about a variety of advanced technologies that are the pride of Japan. They can also learn about the role plastics play in these technologies. (For more information, see the February 2011 issue of the PR magazine pla-topia.) http://tepia.jp/exhibition/index.html

SEISMIC ISOLATION AIR
This system was born from the belief that if buildings are floated on air, when an earthquake, the effects if this earthquake will not be transmitted. When earthquake sensors within the household detect shaking, nozzles in a built-in air tank are automatically opened and air with pressure of eight atmospheres spreads over the entire floor area, thereby lifting the house with air.300 liters of air is required for a house of 15 tsubo (49.5 square meters) in area and weighing 80 tonnes. The house can be lifted by 1.5 cm in less than 0.5 seconds.
Springs are built in and the mechanism is such that a return to the initial position is possible after several minutes. An attenuation effect of 1/37 was found through tests. A delivery track record of 50 houses has already been achieved.
