Advanced Technology Exhibition Hall@TEPIA / MEAL-ASSIST ROBOT

The Advanced Technology Exhibition Hall @ TEPIA was established by Association for Technological Excellence Promoting Innovative Advances (TEPIA) in 1989. It is a venue in which visitors can learn about a variety of advanced technologies that are the pride of Japan. They can also learn about the role plastics play in these technologies. (For more information, see the February 2011 issue of the PR magazine pla-topia.) http://tepia.jp/exhibition/index.html

MEAL-ASSIST ROBOT
A robot for sufferers of diseases such as Parkinson's Disease with handicapped fingers where shaking of the extremities means that they cannot eat by themselves. Movement when the patient tries to move with his/her own will are detected, the intent is transmitted to the robot, and the hands are actually moved, enabling meals to be taken and manual work. This is a robot that rather than feeding the patient, allows the patient to eat by him/herself.
