Plastics in the Engine Room

Numerous plastics are used in the engine room. For example, laminated phenolic, urethane and epoxy resins are used as insulation materials in motor components such as starters and alternators. Plastic materials such as nylon have been used for a long time in fans that induct air into radiators.
Polyethylene and polypropylene are currently employed in battery cases.
