Biomass Plastic at the Center of Attention

It is a well-known fact that preventing global warming and reducing CO2emissions is an urgent issue that needs to be faced on a global scale. Topics that are now the center of attention include reducing the consumption of oil,
which is a fossil fuel, as much as possible and the use of renewable organic resources (biomass),
and plastic that is made of non-food biomass has been in the spotlight in recent years.

JBPA (Japan BioPlastics Association) defines biomass plastic as a??polymer materials that are produced by synthesizing, either chemically or biologically, materials which contain renewable organic materials,a?? and are involved in distributing biomass plastics in addition to conventional biodegradable plastics (plastics that decompose after being broken down by microorganisms in order to return plastic products that up until now have remained semi-permanently back to the earth).

An increasing number of examples in which these plastics are used in personal computer and mobile telephone housings as well as in automobile parts have been seen recently, and the use of improved technology in combination with conventional oil-based plastics can be expected in the future.
