3.2  Shrinkage

(4) Dimensional Changes Caused by Water Absorption

DURANEX® PBT, as shown in Fig. 3-23, absorbs little moisture or water, resulting in only small dimensional changes. The relation between the dimensional change and water absorption is shown in Fig. 3-24.

Being easily hydrolyzed, PBT should not be used for parts which are to be used in hot water. When both the above-mentioned characteristics and this limitation are considered, the dimensional changes caused by moisture and water absorption are not significant in general.
