Origin of music boxes in Japan

There are records from the end of the Edo period (about 1850 during the reign of the Emperor Kaei) which state that a music box incorporating an alarm clock was built by a watchmaker named Denjiro Kobayashi. It is on display at the Suwanone Museum.
