The Origin of Chairs

The Origin of Chairs(1950-1960)

The quantity of plastics used in chairs was still minimal around the 1950s. Looking at the Model 2201, usage was limited to the PVC leather used as the covering for the back and seat surface, the slab urethane foam used in the back and seat cushion material, and the semi-rigid urethane used in the armrest pad.
The Model 2218 debuted in 1958 can be considered to be the origin of office chairs in Japan. Even today, similar chairs are in use.
