Presentation on our environmental efforts

A meeting presenting environmental
efforts undertaken at the Fuji Plant.

Every year during Environment Awareness Month in June, the Fuji Plant invites representatives from the neighborhood to our plant for a presentation on environmental efforts. At the presentation meeting, we use the company's Environmental and CSR Report and other materials to explain our principle environmental efforts, and exchange opinions directly from the guests, and reflect them in the company's environmental protection activities.

Community cleanup activities

A clean-up in the plant environs.

On the third Monday of every month, we clean up the city streets in the vicinity of the plant. Further, in the Environment Awareness Month, we clean up a wide area primarily bordering the prefectural roads near the plant. Also, in October every year, we participate in the clean-up project organized by the neighboring community. In 2007, volunteer employees and their families were responsible for picking up garbage along the embankment on the south side of the plant for 500 meters.

Participation in Mt. Fuji environmental protection activities

Garbage Reduction Project in Mt. Fuji

In the effort to protect the Mt. Fuji environment, the Shizuoka Prefecture Office of Wildlife Conservation holds the Garbage Reduction Project in Mt. Fuji that consists of cleanup activities carried out primarily by roads and in parks in the Mt. Fuji area from the fifth uphill station and below. Polyplastics supports the aims of the project, and every year volunteer employees participate in this project.

Mt. Fuji natural woods creation project

The Mt. Fuji natural woods creation project, organized by Shizuoka Prefecture and NPO organizations, aims to increase and regenerate natural wooded areas by gathering seeds, planting trees, and pulling out weeds beneath the planted trees. Employee volunteers from the company also participate in the project.

School field trips and hands-on work experience for children

From the perspective of nurturing the next generation, we welcome school field trips any time to visit our plant and research facilities in the Fuji area, from local elementary and junior high schools.

Also, we accepted junior high school students for hands-on work experience for the first time. The students were able to learn what it is to work on-site, while we managed to teach children by thinking out an easy explanation for them to understand.

Internships for high school and university students

In fiscal 2007, five high school students and ten undergraduate and graduate students were accepted as interns. We provide them with an actual working opportunity, to learn about the significance of work and what a company is like. We would like to continue to support students in exploring the kind of work they are best suited for as they think about their future and in broadening their horizons.
